Northern Shores Loan Fund, Inc. announces Certification to teach the Building Native Communities – Financial Skills for Families, 4th Edition Curriculum as well as offering free Literature for Tribal Members

Loan Officer, Cindy Hendrickson with Northern Shores Loan Fund, Inc. (“NSLF”) has recently completed training and is now certified to teach the Building Native Communities -Financial Skills for Families, 4th Edition curriculum offered through First Nations and Oweesta.

“Because of this, NSLF is now poised to become an even more valuable asset to our community” says Tim LaCroix, Executive Director. “I am excited that we now have these services available to our Community and the best thing is that it is free.” Along with this, NSLF has the following brochures for free to all Tribal Members:

Credit and Your Consumer Rights; Choosing a Credit Counselor; Credit Repair; Student Loans; Coping with Debt; Debt Collection Arbitration; How Credit Scores Effect the Price of Credit and Insurance; Free Credit Reports; Debt Collection; Disputing Errors on Credit Reports; Veteran’s Pensions; Buying a Used Car; Your Equal Credit Opportunity Rights; Auto Repair Basics; and Building a Better Credit Report.

As a reminder to everyone NSLF is still offering Artisan Loans to our Tribal Artisans to purchase supplies in order to create, display and sell their products at Tribal events. It is way for Tribal Members to become micro entrepreneur and at the same be able to work with WOCTEP to teach their craft to others. WOCTEP offers assistance to anyone who would like to participate (High school/GED graduates, dual-enrolled students, current North Central Michigan College (“NCMC”) students, or community members looking to go to college for these skills can enroll. WOCTEP staff assists with the NCMC enrollment and registration process.”

Although NSLF does not require NCMC enrollment, we encourage anyone seeking to open a micro entrepreneur business selling their artisan product, to speak with WOCTEP and find out additional information.

NSLF offers Artisan Loans up to $500.00 with generous terms. Business loans include the following counties: Alcona, Alpena, Antrim, Arenac, Bay, Benzie, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Clare, Crawford, Emmet, Gladwin, Grand Traverse, Iosco, Isabella, Kalkaska, Lake, Leelanau, Manistee, Mason, Mecosta, Midland, Missaukee, Montmorency, Newaygo, Oceana, Ogemaw, Osceola, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, Roscommon, and Wexford in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
